Daniel 9:1-8 (A Prophecy of Jeremiah)

The stunning prophecy of God that came through Jeremiah revealed that Israel would be in captivity for a period of seventy years. The Prophet Jeremiah had been hauled off to Egypt. Somehow, the record of the prophecy had made its way from Egypt to Babylon.

With the fall of Babylon and the rise of the Medo-Persian Empire, Daniel prayerfully studied the words of Jeremiah and came to the conclusion that the time of captivity was almost over. This became the fuel for one of the longest prayers recorded in the Word of God.
